2020 August Bullet Journal Set Up

Well here we are into August. This is the hottest month of the year usually for Texas so I wanted to do an appropriate theme. One time it was once suggested to me that I lived in the desert, but really I live in the plains. Texas does have desert in it, but not near me. Alas, I did decide to add a desert plant as my main theme this month, the cactus. There are a few where I live, but I am sure there are many more in the desert part of Texas. I really enjoyed setting this up.

For the cover, I wanted to do a page with a cactus or two on it and then the title of August on the other. For the colors of this month, green was a given, but I wanted to add cool colors because it is such a warm month. It helps me not think on how hot it is outside. I turned to trusty Pinterest for inspiration on different shapes for the cactuses. This theme does prompt also blending it with succulents, but I wanted to not include those throughout this set up.

The monthly set up is where I added different shapes more often. I also didn’t want to put them all in pots, so I just made some float on the page. Since I didn’t make many pots, I added the drop shadow to the month, but I decided to do the numbers of the days in green also. I feel that I have a few more things happening this month, so I can’t wait to have this page filled out more than previous months.

To take a break from adding cactus, I didn’t put any on the habits page. I will be using the green to fill in my completed habits as the month goes along, so there will be plenty of color on the page when the month is over. Well, depending on how well I do with my habits. I kept the play list page pretty plain, but I did like how it turned out. I really like doing my titles with the larger, colored background with the thin black cursive above it. I used that on many pages within this spread and have used it many times in the past.

I only changed it up a little on the brain dump page. I used the blue and grey as the title colors and then put some floating cactus at the bottom. Again, as usual, I wanted to keep plenty of space on the page to write down ideas and notes throughout the month on this page. For my goals page, I decided to put some pots and I actually did designated dots for my goals. I have not been doing that then last few months, but I think I want to get back to it.

The last few pages of this months spread are very different from what I usually do. Most of the time I would add the first two days of the month with the first week, but I did not feel like doing that this time. So, I moved up my books read page to the front. I usually put this page at the back of the month after all the weekly spreads, but I had an extra page at the front with only doing the first two days. It also makes the days less crowded the first week. Got to add plenty of cactus on these pages to end the monthly set up. I really like how it turned out and hope the weeks will just as good.
