2020 November Bullet Journal Set Up

There is only one more month left of this year and for this bullet journal. For November, I wanted to have a cozy theme. It took me a while to come up with this academic theme, but I enjoyed getting it together. I kind of based this of the theme of dark academia. I was just going to a book theme, but I added in the notebooks and plants to add to it. I used 4 different browns for this spread. Two Tombow duel brush pens, numbers 992 and 977, and two duel tip Steadtler markers. I cannot wait to get to the holiday at the end of the month. Thanksgiving is a great time and then Christmas in December. I know the year has been hard, but hopefully the holidays can bring cheer to all, even if they will be a little different.

For the cover of November, I wanted to add stacks of books and then added the title on a shelf between bookends. On one of the pages, I did not want to leave it blank, so I added an open book. Then I wrote November in multiple colors and types to fill in the pages. The title between the bookends was a little crowded, but I do liked how it turned out. I picked these for browns to add to the cozy, fall aspect of November. I made sure to add lights and dark for dimension. The cover was actually the last page I finished because I could not decide what to put on it till the end.

I think the month layout was my favorite. I like the bookshelves I added at the bottom. I added some plants and bookends to add to the piles of books on them. I did not want to add green to the plants to keep only the browns in the theme. I usually start my weeks on Mondays, but since this month starts on Sunday and ends on a Monday, I wanted to save space and started it on Sunday. If I had not, I don’t think the month would have fit on the page at all or not well. I also decided to do the days as individual boxes and not have them connected.

I made a big mistake on the habits page. Since I started the month on Sunday, I did that on this page also. In the end though, I labeled the weeks wrong, starting on Mondays as usual. I will have to remember during the month that the numbers are right but the days are wrong. Other than that I liked how the pages turned out. I plan on writing the songs I listen to in the spines of the books on the playlist page. I also wish I made the open books a little bigger for the title of the habits, but they ended up fitting just fine.

For the Goals and Brain Dump page I kept plenty of room to write. I switched it up a bit on the brain dump page by putting it on a notebook sketch. I did the spirals at the top to signify this and to look like it was open to a page. The spirals are a little off, but it was hard to get them the same while drawing. With the four colors, I split them between the two pages to have them all seen. Again, I did not add green to the plant on the goals page. I was getting tired of drawing just books, so I only did the title and a large plant on the goals page. I think I will write my goals in one of the browns to add more color to the pages also. Mostly, the brain dump page will be in black so there will be that contrast.

For the first week I wanted to go simple. I separated the days with shelves and then wrote the days in the spine of a book. There is plenty of room for each day. I also did not mess up on this page. Usually if the week doesn’t start on a Monday, I forget and write the wrong day. I was able to remember it started on a Sunday and add it to the first week. Even though I am not in school anymore, I enjoyed making the academic theme for November. The colors make it cozy and connect it to the fall. This theme is also pretty simple to execute. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving at the end of the month and then Christmas in December. Then 2020 will be over and that is also the end of this bullet journal. Then I get to start a new planner and that is always exciting.
