2020 May Bullet Journal Set Up

Coming off the end of Shakespeare week, I couldn't see it end, so I decided to continue Shakespeare into May! I wanted to keep this theme pretty simple and only use one color, and using it sparingly. I did choose a very bright and vibrant color or red. I feel that I have used red a lot in this bullet journal so far, but I like it so why not. There is still not much going on with everything in lockdown for fighting COVID-19, but hopefully thing will improve this month, just in time for the beginning of summer.

For the cover page, I focused on the main stage that Shakespeare used ins time, The Globe. There is a replica of the building today in London that is based off drawings of the theater. The original building was destroyed in a fire. I have yet to be able to go and see the Globe, but I hope to see it one day. I had plans to go see a production the last time I was in London, but the timing did not work out. It is the top of my list to go to it the next time.

For the rest of the layout pages for this month I wanted to base each spread off a play of Shakespeares. For the monthly layout I picked Romeo and Juliet as the play. So I added the drawings of a poison bottle, a rose, and then a masquerade mask. I didn’t add any of the red to the drawings, but I did use it to mark the dates and the days of the week. I am liking keeping the pages simple and not a ton of colors. I tried to base all the drawings off recognizable parts from the plays or their characters.

I really liked how this layout turned out. I based it on Macbeth, or the Scottish play. I knew I wanted to put a dagger in one of the layouts, and I figured this one was the top choice. I do wish I had also added a blood spot, but I think if I add in the habits with red, they can resemble them. I liked that I did the habits title over the dagger. The playlist page, I did a cauldron and a fire. Adding in the red to the fire is probably the only drawing I colored in, but it works. I haven’t been doing well with my habits during this quarantine beside making my bed, but hopefully I can improve this month.

Midsummer nights dream is said to be the most performed play of Shakespeare and its not a shock why. This play is great and funny. I had to add the donkey’s head to this spread. I also attempted to draw a fairy in the corner and I think it turned out alright. I always like to keep my brain dump and goals pages pretty black for lot of writing. The little flowers mark where I can jot down my goals and try to accomplish them

For the first week I only need three days so I could make them really big. I based these pages on As You Like It, which is probably my favorite comedy play. I added a little sheep on the bottom and did the days within scrolls like Orlando wrote poetry on. I am so use to starting the weekly spread on Mondays, that I usually mess up the first week if it does not and this month is no different. Still loved how everything turned out and can’t wait to continue celebrating Shakespeare all month long.
